Road closures in North Queensland
Current information as of 9am, May 12
- Flash flooding: Hervey Range Rd, Basalt – Closed at Star River and Stockyard Creek in both directions
- Flash flooding: Gregory Developmental Rd, Basalt – all lanes affected in both directions from Herveys Range Rd to Greenvale at Stockyard Creek
- Flash flooding: Gregory Developmental Rd, Charters Towers to Herveys at Basalt River – road closed to all traffic in both directions
- Long term flooding: Gregory Developmental Rd at Belyando Crossing near Broughton / Llanarth – water over the road in various locations, closed to all traffic
- Long term flooding: Ravenswood, at Burdekin Falls Dam Rd, road closed to all traffic
- Hazard: Dotswood / Ravenswood, Flinders Highway, single lane open with traffic control on site, all lanes affected in all directions.
BURDEKIN:
- Long term flooding: Mulgrave, Ayr Ravenswood Rd, road closed in both directions at Scotts Creek, road closed to all traffic
- Long term flooding: Upper Haughton, Barratta Rd, road closed to all traffic, delays expected
- Long-term flooding: Giru / Woodstock, Woodstock Giru Rd, from Flinders Highway through to Giru Road closed to traffic
- Long term flooding: Barratta, Jerona Rd, all lanes blocked in all directions
- Long term flooding: Giru, Morris Creek Rd, all lanes blocked in all directions
- Long term flooding: Cromarty / Mount Surround, Piralko Rd, Reed Beds Rd, Bruce Highway, road closed to traffic
MAY 11:
ROADS affected by flash flooding have been closed as rain continues to thrash the North, with motorists warned to keep clear of high waters.
After receiving more than 100mm of rain in most areas, multiple roads have been affected either by floodwaters or fallen vegetation.
The latest updates from The Department of Transport and Main Roads show that in Townsville, Woolcock St at the lower Bohle bridge has been closed to all traffic outbound towards Deeragun, due to heavy rainfall.
Delays are expected.
Inland near Basalt from Herveys Range Rd to Greenvale at Stockyard Ck, all lanes are affected in both directions due to heavy rain.
At the last update at 5.27am on Wednesday, motorists were advised to avoid the area.
Gregory Developmental Rd from Charters Towers to Herveys at Basalt River has also been closed to all traffic.
Heading out from Charters Towers to Burra Range on the Flinders Highway, the road has been closed in both directions to all traffic with long delays expected due to flooding.
The same has been reported on Belyando Crossing near Charters Towers.
North to Paluma, a fallen tree was reported to have impacted Mt Spec Rd on Tuesday afternoon.
Lanes were blocked in both directions, with drivers advised to proceed with caution.
