Two Townsville teens have been working hard to reel in the cash to fund their new-found love for fishing.
Southern Cross Catholic College Year 8 students Daniel McDonald and Adam Horn started their lawn mowing business six weeks ago.
The boys are working every weekend mowing and whipper-snippering lawns to make some extra pocket money to fund their fishing obsession.
Meeting two years ago at school, the boys devised a plan to start the side hustle at the beginning of the term.
Daniel said their gardening services were in high demand.
“It feels good to be making cash and saving it up and we have looked at a couple of rods and lures and stuff,” he said.
“We have done four weekends in a row just mowing and the other weekend we did six lawns in one day.”
With the help of their parents, the boys are manicuring lawns in Aitkenvale and Annandale. They saved $500 in a month to buy their own 3.5 metre boat and have taken it for a spin on the Ross River.
Adam said the boys found the tinny on Facebook and didn’t think twice.
“We were trying to find a way to buy a boat and we were looking through ideas online and found mowing,” he said.
