A gang of teen car thieves left a trail of destruction in Hermit Park, dumping a stash of stolen vehicles — including one they drove into the river.
Police are investigating after offenders abandoned three stolen cars in the empty lot behind Officeworks, an area that has become a notorious dumping ground for burnt-out and stolen vehicles, on Friday morning.
Local resident Reuben Richardson captured shocking video footage of the group hooning in the lot, burning rubber and sending sparks flying before eventually fleeing the scene.
The offenders rammed a stolen white Isuzu D-Max straight into a nearby river, leaving it partially submerged.
Police said the ute was swiped from Batik Court, Burdell, sometime between 11.30am Thursday and 2.20am Friday.
A white Holden Commodore was also found stashed in the bushes. It was stolen along with a blue SsangYong dual cab from the same address at Fernbank Parade, Idalia around 1am on Friday.
Cops also found a red Suzuki Swift in the empty lot, stolen from Joalah Court, Aitkenvale, around 9.15am Wednesday, February 26.
No charges have been laid yet in relation all of these cars.
