Townsville NDIS provider finds new home
A Townsville NDIS provider has found a new home to serve dozens of the community’s most vulnerable members.

A Townsville disability services agency has purchased a premises after having to meet vulnerable clients in cafes and other public places.
Beloved Home Care recently moved into a wheelchair accessible centre on Ross River Road.
Founder and service manager Gloria Pundari had been running the NDIS-funded business from her home since late-2021.
“I did not just want an office space, I wanted a community,” Ms Pundari said of the new centre.
Beloved Home Care has 27 staff across Townsville, Cairns, Charters Towers and Ayr, and 35 clients in Townsville alone.
They provide support work for people to find jobs and socialise, and clinical nursing in the community when people leave hospital with things like stomach bags and catheters. They also help people who are on the National Injury Insurance Scheme and their operation has spread by word of mouth.
The company was started to provide individualised care, Ms Pundari said, but meeting in public places like a cafe could be stressful for clients.
Now they have the commercial space, Ms Pundari would look to apply to become a registered aged care provider.
A proper parking lot, no stairs and a disabled toilet were all essential when Ms Pundari went looking for a premises.
The space has a small front desk sectioned off with sight screens, areas with comfortable chairs and games and even a small pool table.
Next year they will start putting on bingo and crafts and open the office as a hub for kids.
Enrolled nurse Grace Wakana said her and Ms Pundari’s Papua New Guinean culture contributed to their work and people were not just sent off to care centres.
About 4.3 million Australians have a disability and the scheme costs the federal and state governments $36.7bn in the 2022/23 year.
