A TOWNSVILLE man told police he had a “small amount” of weed in his bedroom, but a search of his home revealed he had seeds and equipment too.
Sam Robin Harrold, 26, pleaded guilty to four charges in the Townsville Magistrates Court last Wednesday.
On March 11, police raided Harrold’s home and found cannabis, a bong, pipe, grinders and clip-seal bags used in connection with committing a drug offence.
Police prosecutor Cody Rowe said when police knocked on Harrold’s door he told them he had a “small amount” of cannabis in his bedroom.
A search of his property also located a clip-seal bag containing 50 cannabis seeds, a package containing six clip-seal bags each with cannabis seeds inside, less than a gram of green leafy material in a bowl, grinders containing cannabis residue as well as other paraphernalia used.
“The defendant initially told police they were seeds for something else before ultimately declaring them as cannabis seeds,” Mr Rowe said.
Harrold’s defence solicitor said his client was self-employed and had a nine-month-old child who he cared for with his partner.
Magistrate Kenneth Taylor said Harrold’s drug use was something he needed to address.
Harrold was fined $450 and referred to SPER. No conviction was recorded.
