A Townsville security company are offering a reward to track down the brazen car thieves responsible for repeatedly ramming their patrol car during a ‘horrific’ ambush this morning.

Security Options NQ managing director Gordan McCormack said one of his staff members was driving a patrol car around when he noticed a car flashing its lights at him from behind along Anne Street, Aitkenvale, about 5.30am on Tuesday.

He said the car appeared to need help and their staffer slowed down to see what was wrong.

“The stolen cars then suddenly rammed him from behind, spun the car out of control before ramming him again,” Mr McCormack said.

“They sped off but came back only about 10 minutes later when police came to speak to our team at the nearby office on Rendle St.

“They went speeding right past them. They didn’t care.

“They’ve just got no care for authority at all. It’s very frustrating.”

Mr McCormack said they’re now offering a $500 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the offenders driving the stolen White Toyota Fortuner Wagon with the QLD registration number 908AM7.

He said the security company may need to write off and replace the damaged vehicle, which is worth about $26,000.

“These offenders have to be prosecuted. They can’t let them get away,” he said.

“We’re getting pretty fed up.

“Luckily, our staff member wasn’t hurt, but you can imagine it was quite a horrific thing for him to go through.”
