A popular Townsville burger joint was forced to close over a busy lunchtime shift after a brazen criminal forced their way into the store and stole all the cash from the register.
Real Burger Co owner Bridget Contarino said the store was targeted overnight.
She started her day by walking into the North Shore shop to find the cash register open and about $200 missing.
Ms Contarino said it was the second time the shop had been broken into.
“The first time we had a young person smash the glass with their hands,” she said.
“Sometimes they can be quite aggressive.”
The latest break-in resulted in the shop being closed for the lunchtime shift as police dusted for prints.

Ms Contarino said the thief forced open the door and damaged the frame, leaving it off kilter.
“We’ve had COVID to deal with and the public holiday. (The break-in) just throws you off,” Ms Contarino said.
She said the suspect was still on the run.
Real Burger Co opened at North Shore last year. In May this year it closed its Hyde Park store.
The burger joint attracted a cult following with its at times unusual culinary creations, including a burger made with pies.
It was voted the city’s best burger shop by the Townsville Bulletin in 2017.
