A VIOLENT “thug” who assaulted, terrorised and vilified his former partner has been slammed by a judge looking to send a message to domestic violence offenders.
Noel Craig Wosomo pleaded guilty burglary at night with violence and property damage, assault, wilful damage, 11 counts of breaching a domestic violence order and a string of other charges.
He was sentenced to four years jail when he faced Townsville District Court on Friday.
On November 24, 2017, Wosomo went to the woman’s house in the early hours of the morning and assaulted her by pushing her and pinning her against furniture while accusing her of sleeping with other men.
Crown prosecutor Andrew Lowrie said Wosomo entered the woman’s house again on the 14th of December, accused of sleeping with other men.
She drove away from the house but he followed her and damaged her car.
The court heard Wosomo sent a series of “vile” messages threatening his former partner.
“Telling her that the court order didn’t mean shit and he would bash her head in with a metal bar,” Mr Lowrie said.
“(Another time) indicated he intended on watching her head bounce on the concrete as he jumped on her ‘dog-headed face’.
“Further threats of violence including blowing her face clean off… that he was going to slam a car door on her head.”
Judge William Eversen said he had never seen such a level of threats through text messages.
Judge Everson noted Wosomo was willing to assault the woman but ran from police when they raided his house.
“Despite being such a big man and threatening a woman when the police turned up you ran away and they had to chase you and catch you… just shows what a coward you are,” Judge Everson said.
“You are a recidivist violent offender who has a concerning prevalence of violent offences concerning this victim.”
Judge Everson said he was sentencing Wosomo to deter him and others from committing domestic violence offenders, labelling it a “blight” on the community.
“You appear to have some long unresolved issues of jealousy,” he said.
“Not only have you attacked her in her own home, not only have you intimidated her while she was trying to go about her business, not only have you sort to portray her as a slut and a woman of low social virtue…
“Not only have you continued to threaten her at every opportunity but you’ve openly said that you don’t care about the (court) orders and they are not going to make a difference.
“Well they are going to make a difference…. You are going to get a heavier penalty… you are still behaving like some sort of intimidatory thug.”
Taking into account 235 days as time already spent behind bars and his plea of guilty Wosomo will be eligible for parole on December 8, 2019.
