THE Australian Islamic Medical Association has held an essential blood donation drive to help those most vulnerable.
After successful blood drives in Canberra over the past two years the association has expanded its reach this year across 12 national locations, including Townsville.
Registration volunteer Ferzana Khan with donor Shadman Ahmed (pictured) gathered at the Townsville Mosque on Friday to donate blood for the drive.
Australian Islamic Medical Association Queensland campaign co-ordinator Dr Muhammad Ashraf said the drive would support the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood.
“No one understands the importance of blood and blood products in the management of trauma and bleeding patients more than a surgeon,” he said.
“So we are encouraging Muslim communities across Queensland to participate in this life saving drive.”
