A TOWNSVILLE personal trainer has honoured her former client with a generous donation to help others in their time of need.
Every year, Tamie Buchanan and her family pay it forward to a local Townsville charity that is close to their hearts. This year, Ms Buchanan presented the Brighter Lives Townsville Hospital Foundation with a collection of board games and personal hygiene products to be distributed to those they help.
She said the donation was inspired by a friend who passed away last week.
“I had one of my clients in palliative care and the (foundation) helps people in palliative care and everywhere in the hospital,” she said.
“That was close to my heart, so I thought I would like to support them.”
The items donated were collaboratively collected by Ms Buchanan’s clients.
“I put the call out there to everyone because they were friends of my client,” she said.
“It is a lovely feeling, but I feel like it is inspired by (my client) and I believe we have him to thank.”
Brighter Lives Townsville Hospital Foundation chief executive officer Tanya Busoli said the boardgames were distributed to the Townsville University Hospital’s secure mental health unit.
“The team there will use them for fun activities, but also to help with engaging and assessing their patients,” she said.
