Things will go bump in the night when an out of this world spooky ‘spooktacular’ hits the stage at the Townsville Civic Theatre next week.

It’s time for the annual Pimlico Presents where 300 dance, music and drama students from will showcase their array of ghoulish talents.

The show’s artistic director teacher Shannon Gilbert said ‘spooky’ was the theme for this year’s performance.

“While some of our students have jumped on board with the theme, not everyone has and that’s the spirit of the variety concert,” Mrs Gilbert said.

“You’ll see some spooky items, but for the majority, it’s just a big variety, and there’s something for everyone.”

She said the audience could expect to be entertained by a range of classic and modern songs.

“Time Warp is in there and we’ve got songs like Somebody’s Watching Me. We’ve also got some Lady Gaga happening and songs from Wicked throughout the show.

“Some big titles there that people will certainly know and enjoy.”

Mrs Gilbert said that while she was the show’s artistic director it was the students who were developing their own showcase.

“Most of our show is student led. The ideas have come from the students and I think that’s really awesome.

“It really showcases just the sheer talent we have at Pimlico State High School, that our students can come up with an idea, audition it perfect, it and put it on stage.”

Pimlico Presents runs at the Townsville Civic Theatre on Friday May 16 and Saturday May 17 and for tickets go to https://whatson.townsville.qld.gov.au/events/pimlico-presents-pimlico-state-high-school
