A TOWNSVILLE man removed his shirt and yelled “come here you mother f****r” when police were conducting patrols.
Simmeon Jessiah Dempsey, 25, was jailed on Tuesday after he pleaded guilty in court from the watch-house charged with two offences - assaulting and obstructing police.
Police prosecutor Anita Page said Dempsey approached police in an “aggressive manner” yelling profanities and clenching his fists when he called out “come here you mother f****r”.
When police told him he was under arrest he fled the scene.
Dempsey was held in custody for 159 days before the matters came to court on April 6 as he was on parole at the time he committed the offences.
The court heard Dempsey had a six-page criminal history and had been previously jailed.
In court, Dempsey’s solicitor Mr Troydon Maltby said his client was agitated and given he was drunk the matter got “out of hand”.
Mr Maltby said police were not injured during the altercation because “no contact was made”.
In sentencing, Magistrate Kenneth Taylor said police had a “difficult job in the best of times without that sort of behaviour”.
He considered Dempsey’s time already served in custody but said it was non-declarable due to him being on parole.
Magistrate Taylor sentenced Dempsey to a total of five months imprisonment, three months for assault and two months for obstruction, served concurrently.
The sentences were suspended for 12 months.
Convictions were recorded.
