SHOCKING new details have emerged about the final moments of Kayla Golding’s life, before she was allegedly stabbed and left to die, in the presence of two young children.

The revelations were aired during a bail application for Jamie Alan McAuliffe, 39, who has been charged with one count of accessory after the fact to murder and faced court from the witness box on Wednesday.

Jamie Mcauliffe was refused bail when he appeared in the Townsville Magistrates Court on May 26, 2021.

It was also revealed in court two children, aged four and six, were present at the time of the alleged murder.

Police will allege McAuliffe also drove Chante Lee White, 29, away from the crime scene after she allegedly stabbed Ms Golding in the neck and left her to die. A third person, a witness, was also driven from the Condon unit, the court heard.

McAuliffe handed himself into police on Sunday, 43 hours after Ms Golding was killed, before police arrested and charged White with murder.

In court on Wednesday, McAuliffe’s lawyer Nick Douglas of Legal Aid Queensland said his client accepted he was present and “in the vicinity” when the alleged murder unfolded.

Mr Douglas said the Crown’s case rested on the testimony of a witness who was also present on Friday night, who, McAuliffe is also alleged to have driven away from the scene to his own home.

Mr Douglas said two young children aged four and six were also present at the time of the alleged murder.

He said McAuliffe also “saw the blood, and saw something significant had happened.”

“He wanted to get them away from the scene,” Mr Douglas said.

The court heard McAuliffe was a qualified carpenter but was recently employed on a full-time basis by the Townsville Showgrounds Society as a groundsman.

Mr Douglas said McAuliffe was not at risk of reoffending if he was granted bail.

“In his mind he has done nothing wrong,” Mr Douglas said.

Police prosecutor Kassandra Hall opposed bail and said the allegations against McAuliffe did not go to whether he was present when the event occurred but to his “activities in the immediate instance afterwards and since”.

“He has played a role in the aftermath of this woman’s death, that has brought him here today,” Ms Hall said.

Ms Hall said McAuliffe had been seen going back and forth between the crime scene and another location, suspected to be his own residence.

The court heard he is also alleged to have sent a text message to the witness that said

“As long as you are all right. We were pretty out of it yesterday. We trust you like you trust us. Be careful”.

Ms Hall acknowledged McAuliffe had a limited criminal history but said it was clear his offending had “escalated”.

Magistrate Ken Taylor took into account McAuliffe’s limited history but said his alleged involvement in such a serious offence and the allegation he had not contacted medical services for assistance meant McAuliffe had not shown cause as to why detention in custody was not justified.

Mr Taylor refused McAuliffe’s application for bail and adjourned the matter to August 4 for committal mention.
