A BET to see who could sleep with a 16-year-old girl first for a carton of beer led to her being violently allegedly raped, a court has heard.
A trial in the Townsville Childrens Court has heard the girl was crying and “couldn’t stand at all” after she was allegedly raped at a party in July last year.
An 18-year-old male who was 17 when the alleged incident occurred has pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape.
Four witnesses aged 18 who were present at the party and “drinking” gave evidence in the trial on Tuesday.
One witness recalled seeing the girl crying on the carpet in the bedroom after the alleged rape occurred, and said he saw blood stains on the doona.
Another witness, a girl, said the 16-year-old told her after the incident she asked the boy to stop “but he kept going”.
“She was in pain, she was crying, she couldn’t get up,” the witness said.
A witness who was also party to the alleged bet said the defendant walked with a towel around him and said “I did it”.
The girl’s mother also gave evidence, telling the court her daughter “was a mess” and “said she was sore”.
She said her daughter told her a boy had “had forceful sex” with her.
A forensic nurse from the Townsville University Hospital also gave evidence and said the girl suffered a 2½ cm laceration to her vaginal region that was still bleeding three days after the alleged rape.
The trial will continue on Wednesday.
