A 22-year-old man linked to the recent spree of car crimes across the city was on parole when allegedly committing his string of serious offences, it can be revealed.
No application for bail for Shakur Paul McLennan was made on Wednesday when the man’s matters were mentioned in the Townsville Magistrates Court.
McLennan is charged with seven offences: driving without a licence disqualified by a court order, three counts of stealing and three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
The court heard two of the alleged unlawful use charges were committed in Ingham on May 11 and 13, while the remaining charge was alleged to have occurred in Belgian Gardens in Townsville on Monday.
Magistrate Steven Mosch said McLennan’s parole was “likely to be suspended”.
McLennan will remain in custody until his matters return to court on June 16.
