Serious tractor, truck crash on country highway

A heavy vehicle crash occurred at 10.15am this morning on the Flinders Highway at the foot of the Mingela Range.

Emergency services are on the scene of a collision between a truck and tractor on a North Queensland highway

A heavy vehicle crash occurred at 10.15am this morning on the Flinders Highway at the foot of the Mingela Range.

The single vehicle crash caused the light truck and car trailer it was carrying to roll twice and subsequently hit the Land Rover they were trying to salvage.

One man was transported in a stable condition to Townsville University Hospital.

Townsville Police spokesperson Matt Cameron-Lyon said the vehicle lost control and overturned.

“First responders would have been greeted to an overturned vehicle and a bit of chaos,” Mr Cameron-Lyon said.

One west-bound lane is closed currently due to the accident site needing to be cleared.

The east-bound lane is open, however, traffic control is in place.

Mr Cameron-Lyon said always drive carefully.

“Do not drive tired and be conscious of your fatigue management and speed at all times,” he said.
