A woman from a tiny coastal Queensland town says her tears have not stopped flowing after a life-changing lottery windfall.
“This has been the most incredible couple of days!” the woman from Forrest Beach, Hinchinbrook Shire, said following her $400,000 Saturday Gold Lotto win.
“I’ve been playing these numbers for almost two decades, and I can’t believe they were finally drawn.”
The North Queenslanders said both her and her daughter had “been in tears since we discovered the win”.
“I can’t stop crying! It’s going to make my transition to retirement incredibly easy, and it also means I can help my children more.
“What an incredible day.”
The Forrest Beach woman held one of the 13 division one winning entries in the Saturday Gold Lotto draw with each winning entry scoring $400,641.05.
She said she was excited to transition into retirement and help her children in the future.
Her winning marked 12-game entry was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
Last financial year, Australia’s Official Lotteries contributed more than $1.6 billion via state lottery taxes and donations to help community initiatives, including hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
