Police have set up a crime scene after a woman arrived at the Townsville University Hospital with a dead child in her car.
Emergency services were called to the hospital at 3.30pm after a nurse from the emergency department contacted the Queensland Police Service.
It’s believed a mother of a three-year-old girl arrived at the hospital with her deceased in her vehicle.
It’s understood she left may have left her in the car for a prolonged period of time, possibly since the morning school run for older siblings.
Multiple police cars have surrounded the vehicle, with both uniformed police and detectives on scene.
One police officer is keeping watch over the car, a white Toyota Prado, while multiple other police went inside the hospital.
Officers from the Child Protection Investigation Unit are also on scene.
District Duty Officer Joe Matheson did not wish to comment at the scene.
