Police charge 25-year-old man over murder of 44 year old woman at Mundingburra
Police have charged a man over the stabbing death of a woman in a Townsville suburban home.

Detectives from Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man following an investigation into the death of a 44-year-old woman.
Emergency services and police were called at 11.45am Thursday to attend an address on Wellington St, Mundingburra to reports of a disturbance.
There, officers found a 44-year-old woman who had suffered multiple stab wounds.
The son of the woman was later taken into custody and was assisting police.
Detectives on Friday morning charged a 25-year-old man Currajong with one count each of murder and one count of serious assault with intent to commit a crime – domestic violence offences.
He was also charged with one count of going armed so as to cause fear.
He will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today.
Townsville Crime Services Detective Acting-Inspector Chris Hicks on Thursday old media that officers began CPR on the woman, but the woman was declared deceased at the scene.
“Unfortunately, she hasn’t survived the wounds that she’s received and she was pronounced deceased at the address,” Inspector Hicks said.
“Not long after that, a 25-year-old male was located at an address on Gulliver Street, just near Anderson Park. He went willingly with police.”
The man – who was confirmed to be the woman’s son that lived with her at the Wellington St house – was in possession of two knives when he was found by police.
“That male is assisting police with inquiries at this time,” he said.
“Further investigation examination will be undertaken by specialist police. Investigators are on scene as are forensic police.”
A dog was also taken from the house by forensic investigators.
Officers were seen conducting patrols, and tents were set up along Wellington St, with more than six police units attending the scene.
A part of the road along Wellington and Moorina Sts has been blocked off.
Investigators are asking any witnesses or people with CCTV footage to contact them.
