Person hospitalised after rollover on highway near Rollingstone

A person has been taken to hospital in an ambulance following a rollover on the Bruce Highway.

A PERSON has been taken to hospital in an ambulance following a rollover on the Bruce Highway.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics and firefighters were called to the crash 5km south of Surveyor Creek, near Rollingstone, shortly before 6am on Saturday.

Nobody was entrapped and paramedics transported one patient to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.

In the lead up to Christmas police from the Townsville District have started Operation Cross Border in the Ingham area, with the goal being to reduce the road toll by targeting the fatal five – drivers speeding, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, fatigue, not wearing seatbelts and using mobile phones.

There will be a high police presence on the Bruce Highway.

Police will also be targeting evidence of drug and criminal activity.
