Police have taken one person into custody after they found the orange Commodore involved in an alleged carjacking in the city last night.

The arrest happened this morning on Dalrymple Service Road in Vincent.

After colliding with the car, the group then allegedly dragged a woman out of her orange Commodore and fled.

Police charged a teenage girl and are appealing for information following an alleged armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle on Sunday.

At the weekend, a Mazda sedan was allegedly stolen from a Mount Low address during a break-in.

Shortly before 6pm on Sunday it will be alleged the occupants of the stolen Mazda threw objects from the car at a tradie driving a dual cab.

The tradie last night told of how a carload of teenagers in a stolen car tried to carjack him and his 15-year-old daughter at knifepoint.

Police will allege the tradie chased the stolen Mazda from Aitkenvale to Townsville before crashing on Stanley St about 7.30pm on Sunday.

Four occupants in the Mazda, all believed to be juveniles, fled on foot.

Police arrested a 17-year-old girl, an alleged passenger in the Mazda, at the scene.

It will be alleged a 31-year-old Hermit Park woman, who stopped to offer assistance at the crash site, was forced from the orange Commodore at knifepoint by two male occupants from the stolen Mazda.

The pair, along with a third occupant, the fled in the Commodore.

The Commodore was spotted on Riverway Road Bridge about 4.20am on Monday. Stingers successfully punctured the front tyres and the Commodore was later found abandoned in Vincent.

There were visible skid marks on the bitumen surrounding the vehicle.
