A Townsville man threatened to kill his grandmother and burn her house down after she refused to buy him alcohol.

A TOWNSVILLE man clenched his fists and told his grandmother “I’m going to bash you, you old c--t” when she told him he could only have four dollars for alcohol.
Nathaniel Thaiday pleaded guilty to one charge of threatening violence by words or conduct - domestic violence offence in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Thursday, April 15.
Police prosecutor senior constable Kim Murphy said Thaiday threatened his grandmother after she refused to pay for his alcohol when he went to her house on Monday.
He appeared in court from the box after he was taken into custody in Kirwan on Wednesday night.
Senior constable Murphy said Thaiday’s 75-year-old grandmother told him she would “whack him” with a golf club if he hit her.
The court heard the 18-year-old said “I’ll burn the house down with you in it”.
Thaiday’s lawyer Kevin Amantea said his client’s actions were “stupid” and submitted he be punished by a probation order.
Magistrate Steven Mosch said Thaiday’s conduct was “appalling and disgraceful”.
“If you want to drink alcohol pay for it yourself,” he said.
Thaiday was sentenced to nine months probation.
No conviction was recorded.
