The woman accused of murdering Kayla Golding will remain behind bars until her next court date.

Chante Lee White, 29, who is accused of murdering Ms Golding on Friday, did not appear in court on Monday and her lawyer Phil Rennick asked for the matter to be adjourned for 12 weeks.

Magistrate Ross Mack adjourned the matter to August 4 for committal mention.

No application for bail was made and White was remanded in custody.

Emergency services were called to a Riverway Drive unit block about 7.20pm on Friday night and found Miss Golding, 29, bleeding out on the footpath. She had a life-threatening neck wound.

She was taken to Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition but later died due to her injuries.

About 1.30pm on Sunday a man, 39, turned himself in to Townsville police.

Just after 4.30pm, detectives conducted a search of a West End property and took Ms White into custody.
