“It’s quiet traumatic for everyone involved to be at this situation however we will continue to do our job professionally to ensure the family of the deceased has answers for this today because they’re entitled to answers as are the other families involved as to what happened here today.”

“Certainly our thoughts are with the family of the deceased and all the other persons involved.”

Another man and a woman were cut from their four-wheel drive, and paramedics were still deciding whether the injured woman would be taken to hospital by road or air.

The road remains closed with diversions in place.
