THE owners of a pat-loving pooch from Townsville who’s won the hearts of millions on TikTok have opened up about how life has changed since their pup went viral.

Townsville resident Isabella Smith-Lester said her one-year-old blue staffy, Tubs, was one of the friendliest pups you’ll ever meet but noticed some of their new neighbours were a bit wary of her.

They decided to put up a sign on their front gate encouraging passers-by to give Tubs a pat, which has resulted in dozens of people stopping to give her a scratch every day.

Tub’s owners filmed some of her adorable interactions with strangers in a now-viral clip on TikTok, which has now reached a whopping 40 million views since it was posted on July 25.

Ms Smith-Lester said the feedback they’ve received from people all around the world has been overwhelmingly positive.

“People are saying Tub’s videos make their day, some are even saying it helps them get through depressive stages,” she said.

She said people were also now recognising Tubs in public when she and her partner take the staffy out for walks.

“She’s definitely getting a lot more pats, and she’s loving it,” she said.

“Some people who drive past recognise the sign from TikTok and pull over just to pat her.

“Tubs is a very needy, down-to-earth staffy. A real couch potato who loves attention, pats, kisses and hugs.”

Ms Smith-Lester said she was happy to help change people’s misconceptions that all staffies are vicious and aggressive dogs.

“Obviously, there’s a whole negative stigma behind staffies, they don’t have the best reputation, but Tubs is the opposite to what social media makes them out to be.”
