The Christmas spirit runs deep and very brightly in Keith Bellamy.
Standing beside his 6m blow-up Santa, anchored to lawn in front of his Cleary Street home, Keith glows with excitement talking about his Christmas addiction.
“I love Christmas, just love Christmas, I always have and always will,” Keith said.
That’s why he spends so much time and money decorating his house for the festive season.
“It brings so much joy to people … you know what I mean, it’s so good.”
Cleary Street in Kirwan is one of the must-see streets for Townsville residents this Christmas
Dozens of homes in the area around Greenwood Drive have been decorated and the number of cars cruising past to take in the atmosphere increases each night.
Keith said this was his 30th year decorating his home for Christmas.
Each year it gets bigger and better.
When asked about how many lights he had on his home he said with a smile, “I’d hate to think”.
“It must be well over 100,000 … there is 40,000 plus on the roof. One thing he did know was that he had the biggest Santa on the block.
“Next door is quite a big one but I think mine’s just a bit bigger, it’s about 6m tall.”
He said he kept trying to do new things to freshen up his lights display each year.
“This year, my wife has got a turning mannequin, we have snow globes, we have tables with a train going around it.”
Keith has even opened up his garage for people to enjoy and it’s not unusual to see 20 crowded in there soaking up the festive atmosphere.
“It was my man cave, now it’s my Christmas cave.”
