Joshua and Nathan Miller were fined for running on to the State of Origin field

Two brothers who ran on to the State of Origin field in Townsville have received hefty fines in court.

A PAIR of rowdy footy fans who hopped the fence and ran on to the State of Orign field in Townsville have been fined in court for their antics.

Twin brothers Joshua Michael Miller, 28, and Nathan Edward Miller, 28, were both charged with one count each of entering onto a playing field after they breached security and entered the playing area on June 9.

Both of the men pleaded guilty to the charges in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Police prosecutor Sergeant John Moran said televised interviews were being conducted on the field following the game when the two men ran on to the field.

Security chased them which caused immediate disruption to the live broadcast.

Sgt Moran said the pair “appeared to be intoxicated” and asked police “did we do something wrong officer” while slurring their words.

Magistrate Viviana Keegan said “when people get drunk and enter the field they are going to cop a substantial fine”.

She fined both men $750 each, referred to SPER.

Both men had convictions recorded.
