MAYOR Jenny Hill has slammed ‘blow- ins’ causing trouble on the streets of Townsville and called for the state government to do something.
The Townsville leader said everyone was fed up with the youth crime in the city.
“It's a small group of people who are making the vast majority of the community look atrocious,” Cr Hill said.
“It looks like they are Townsville, when they are not.
“Some of these kids are blow-ins coming off other communities and other parts of the state who are congregating here.
“The government needs to do something because at the moment, what we seem to have is a group of juveniles whose parents don’t even care what happens to them.”
Cr Hill said there were two issues that needed to be looked at.
“There is the issue we need to deal with now with these children, but then there is a secondary issue to deal with the parents and to prevent the next generation from coming through,” she said.
“That is the two conversations we need to have as a community.”
