Still riding high from a stellar 2024 on the football field, Cowboys star Jake Clifford and his wife Steph have celebrated more good news with the birth of their second child.
Mrs Clifford took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce the arrival of their son Dustyn Matthew Clifford, who was born on Tuesday, December 10.
This follows the couple’s spectacular Hervey Range wedding in 2021, and birth of their first child, daughter Naivy Camille Clifford in September 2021.
News of the couple’s second impending arrival was first revealed on social media in June, with a photo shared of Naivy proudly wearing a “big-sis” T-shirt, signalling her upcoming role as a big sister.
Born in Cairns and raised in Tully, Clifford, 26, was named the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Rookie of the Year in 2018 before leaving the club in 2021 to play for the Newcastle Knights and UK Super League team Hull FC between 2021-2023.
On the back of scintillating form in England, he returned to the Cowboys in 2024 after inking a one year deal.
The Tully Tigers junior has produced a sensational season in the Queensland Cup, compiling 17 try assists and eight tries in 14 games, before forcing his way back into the Cowboys starting squad as first-choice halfback in August.
He could play a critical role in bringing the NRL’s highly-prized silverware back to North Queensland after agreeing to another one-year contract extension for the 2025.
