Keep your eyes peeled as a fighter jet will make its way from the bush to the city along the Flinders Highway this weekend.
The retired and complete Mirage jet fighter is being transported to Townsville from RAAF Base Amberley on Sunday, August 2.
The jet will be accompanied by a retired Winjeel trainer aircraft on the final leg from Charters Towers, with both aircraft going on permanent display at the RAAF Townsville Aviation Heritage Centre.
The two aircraft served together from the mid-60s to the early 1990s and were regular visitors to Townsville skies.

Queensland Police said this was a unique and historic delivery, and given the scale of the aircraft, there will be two police vehicles escorting them along their way.
On Sunday, August 2, between midmorning and midafternoon, the aircraft convoy will travel down the Flinders Highway from Charters Towers, past the front of Lavarack Barracks on University Drive before turning onto Nathan St heading to the RAAF base Townsville’s Duckworth St entrance.
It is important that drivers follow all directions from police and pull over to the side of the road to allow the convoy to pass.
Police have asked people to be mindful of where they are parked if they wish to stop and watch the convoy, and to always be conscious of social distancing.
