HeyDays Cafe & Events opens on Flinders St after three years in the making

The Townsville CBD has welcomed a new caffeinated resident, with big plans already in the works to transform the space into more than just a cafe.

New study shows coffee is good for the heart

THE Townsville CBD is home to a new cafe which will soon evolve to include a wine bar and event venue.

HeyDays Cafe & Events opened last Friday on Flinders Street transforming the former two storey art gallery into a modern coffee house and soon to be bar and event venue.

Head roaster Ryan Toleman said the vision for the business was about offering customers a memorable experience.

”HeyDays is not just a place to get coffee it is a space for everything that happens in between the coffee,” he said.

“We wanted something really clean and a comfortable space where we can make really nice things to make people feel good.”

The 400sq m venue will soon feature a kitchen, training room for coffee roasting lessons as well as a downstairs bar and outdoor courtyard.

With its high ceilings and hardwood floors, Mr Toleman said the public had embraced their new neighbour.

“It is easy to discount the city centre but we think Flinders Street is really cool and I feel like the heart of the city has a really great vibe,” he said.

“I am really grateful for the turnout we have had and I hope people come to visit and spend the day in the city.”

Mr Toleman said HeyDays had been three years in the making and was a collaborative effort.

“The team is going to get bigger and bigger and I am excited to see people bring their ideas and see what they want to do with this space,” he said.

“We love food that is delicious and is hearty and soulful and we love coffee that is the best in the world and we love having parties.”
