A young father-of-two who died while driving home from work on the Bruce Highway after a night shift working security, has been remembered by his wife as her best friend and a devoted father.

Jordan Brown, 27, was driving home to Giru when his car collided with a truck around 6am on Friday, April 4.

Heavy rain had fallen that night and water had pooled over the highway close to the Tindall Ct intersection where the crash occurred.

Jordan’s wife, Chloe Brown, 25, said she knew something was wrong when she woke up at 6.20am and he wasn’t home.

“I started calling anyone I could think of, and around 8 o’clock that morning, his mum called and said the police were there and all I could hear was screaming,” Mrs Brown said.

“No long after, the police came to me.”

Mrs Brown said Jordan’s mother lived in Alligator Creek, just streets away from the fatal crash.

The young family used to live in Kelso before they made the dream move out to Giru in 2023.

“We wanted to get out of town, to have land that our kids and grandkids could enjoy,” Mrs Brown said.

“Jordan was someone who you could talk to for hours, he was the best dad and he loved me to bits, he never had anything bad to say about me at all … I loved him with my whole heart.”

Jordan was the proud father of a three-year-old daughter and a 10-month-old son.

Close family friends Stacey and Jared Smart have launched a GoFundMe for Mrs Brown and her children in the wake of the fatal accident.

Mrs Brown said she was overwhelmed by the support the GoFundMe had attracted.

“I want to say thank you, I’m so overwhelmed by everybody reaching out,” she said.

As of Monday, April 7, the GoFundMe has received $37,000 donations not just from people who knew the family well, but by those shocked by the accident.

Adelina Anthony, who made a large donation to the GoFundMe, said she knew of Chloe and Jordan through their extended family.

“They are truly a beautiful, kind-hearted family,” she said.

“It’s absolutely heartbreaking to hear what they are going through, and we felt compelled to help in any way we could. Our hearts are with them.”

Mrs Brown’s attempt to find the strangers who stayed by her husband’s side at the crash site has also been successful, and she’s invited all of them to Jordan’s funeral.
