Glenn Alan Jeffries to be sentenced over indecent treatment of children, grooming teenage colleague

A North Queensland chef charged with grooming a teenage colleague has fronted court for the next step in his case.

Glenn Allan Jeffries has been charged over allegedly grooming a 15-year-old girl.

A North Queensland chef accused of grooming a teenage colleague has pleaded guilty to all charges against him.

Glenn Alan Jeffries was brought from custody to the dock in Townsville District Court on Friday where he was arraigned in bulk.

He pleaded guilty to every charge which included 16 counts of failing to comply with reporting, five counts of indecent treatment of children under 16, contravening an order about information necessary to access – stored electronically, and attempted indecent treatment of a child under 16.

Jeffries – who is a reportable offender for life – is alleged to have committed offences against three children, including a 15-year-old girl, during his time as a chef at a Home Hill restaurant.

It is alleged that Jeffries inappropriately touched and spoke to the teenager and tried to have her engage in sexualised behaviours.

During a previous bail application in Townsville Magistrates Court, his bail was ultimately opposed due to the magistrate holding “no confidence”’ that Jeffries would comply with any conditions imposed.

Prosecutors at that time submitted Jeffries posed an “unacceptable risk” to witnesses, of reoffending, or failing to appear.
