A TOWNSVILLE bond cleaner has fronted court after police found in her possession meth and other drug paraphernalia when her car was searched earlier this month.

The court heard police had “reasonable suspicion” to search Gemma Lee Roughsedge’s car when she was intercepted in Townsville on April 1.

The mother-of-one pleaded guilty to four charges in the Townsville Magistrates Court on April 27, which includes possessing dangerous drugs, possessing utensils or pipes, possessing anything used in the commission of crime and contravening a direction of police.

Roughsedge, who is employed as a cleaner at Glittering Cleaning Service, was busted with 0.27g of meth in a clip seal bag.

Police prosecutor Kassandra Hall said a pipe was also discovered, along with two more clip seal bags in the car’s footwell.

The court heard Roughsedge also failed to provide ID when asked to by police.

Roughsedge’s solicitor Sarah Belford said the 28-year-old was “using drugs recreationally” when she was caught.

Magistrate Cathy Wadley fined Roughsedge $200 for the drug offences and $100 for contravening police.

All fines were referred to SPER.

No convictions were recorded.
