Townsville’s youngest leading ladies are set to bring their first ever stage production of Frozen to life.

Zara Boldery, 8 from North Ward, and Harriet Kelly, 9, from Annandale, will portray Anna and Elsa on stage at Calvary Christian Church this Saturday at the opening of Disney’s Frozen Junior the Musical.

They will be sharing their roles with real-life sisters Annabelle and Adelaide de Hoog, aged 8 and 10.

The leads join more than 200 other local kids, aged 5 to 18, in the production by community theatre organisation Libretto Studios.

The close friends have been rehearsing non-stop for four months for their theatre debut playing the tight-knit sisters who embark on an epic ice-filled journey.

Alyssa Kelly, director, Libretto Studios, said Zara and Harriet are the youngest all singing, dancing and acting junior leads at the studio.

“Despite their tender ages they’ve shown talent for the stage beyond their years,” Ms Kelly said.

“They beat out 80 other young hopefuls aged 8 to 12 during the two-day audition process which parents might appreciate is quite a feat for children in grade three and four.”

The show will include five new songs, along with life-size professionally made puppets operated by the kids.

“It’s a show for the whole family – we want parents to bring their kids and grandparents to bring their grandkids for just under an hour of non-stop entertainment that’s funny, heartwarming and full of wonder. Singing along is definitely encouraged!”

Tickets for the Libretto Studios production can be found at trybooking.com for Saturday 5 August and Saturday 12 August, at 12.30pm, 3.30pm and 6.30pm.
