THE vision of The Oasis Townsville has come to life with the release of the first images of the proposed site and logo.
The Bulletin has been given the exclusive first look at the official logo and an artist’s impression of the entrance to the desired building on the corner of Darter and Colvin streets, Oonoonba.
The former Department of Primary Industries Biosecurity lab building, which is vacant, was identified as the preferred site by three-star general Lieutenant General John Caligari AO, DSC (retired) and other founders of TOT.
Mr Caligari said publicly releasing the designs was to show the community the project was moving forward, regardless of who wins the next State election.
“We want to show people that this is all coming together and we have already received overwhelming support by social media,” he said.
“A lot of people are still sceptical but it is a matter for us to convince them this will happen no matter what happens on November 25.”
Mr Caligari said the idea behind the colourful logo was to move away from traditional military designs.
“The idea is to show that everyone will be linking together and there will be no gaps with the services we will have here,” he said.
“It’s not just about helping soldiers, sailors and airmen, it about their families, carers and mates
that make up all parts of the community.”
The Oasis Townsville is expected to launch it official website tomorrow.
