Race X delivers real Supercars experience to Townsville

The countdown for Supercars is on with the NTI Townsville 500 Transporter Parade set to kick off the much-loved event.

On Wednesday, July 3, trucks carrying more than $25m in Supercars will make their way through the streets of Townsville to Reid Park.

The parade will kick off at midday, turning from Webb Drive onto Ingham Rd, then take a left turn onto Percy St.

From there, the parade will continue along Bundock St, passing by popular spots to watch that include Howitt St, Warburton St and Eyre St before the trucks fross the George Roberts Bridge.

Trucks will ten make their way onto Saunders St before turning into the Reid Park circuit.

There will also be a dedicated fan zone at the Townsville sign in Central Park.

Supercars Logistics Manager and lead truck driver in the parade Jason Routley said it was an honour for the Supercars teams to be part of the parade.

“Every truckie looks forward to seeing fans old and new along the route to the circuit to really kick off our event celebrations,” he said.

“We encourage local fans and visitors to get to the Fan Zone near Palmer Street, it’s one of the best vantage points to see all the transporters and there will be something there for the whole family on the day.

“Some of the teams travel close to 2500km to get to Townsville each year and seeing fans lining the streets to welcome them to town is always a great way to cap off the trip and officially begin the NTI Townsville 500.”

The NTI Townsville 500 is a staple in the North Queensland events calendar and will this year include shows from Tones and I, G Flip and Cyril, who will perform on July 6.

Townsville Supercars Transporter Parade is back

WHERE TO WATCH THE PARADE

—At 12pm, the parade begins with transporters turning from Webb Drive onto Ingham Road

—Transporters will drive along Ingham Road before turning onto Percy Street.

—Transporters will follow road as names turn into Bundock, Warburton, Eyre and Denham Streets

— Transporters will pass Flinders Street Intersection and over George Roberts Bridge

— Transporters will pass the FAN ZONE located at Central Park Townsville Sign near Palmer

Street

—Transporters will continue on Saunders Street past Townsville Stadium

—Transporters will turn into Boundary Street entrance into circuit
