A TOWNSVILLE man accused of inappropriately spending funds raised for his son’s funeral has had his matters mentioned in court.
Ezekiel Vernon Samuel Baira pleaded not guilty in the Townsville Magistrates Court to one count of fraud last year.
His son was one of four teenagers killed on June 7, 2020, when the allegedly stolen car he was travelling in clipped a roundabout, flipped and hit a traffic light.
Baira’s lawyer Margaret Crowther told Magistrate Steven Mosch she had instructions in relation to the alleged fraud charge that she would be submitting to the prosecution.
Baira’s appearance was excused on Thursday and the matters will return to court on June 14.
Baira is remanded on bail.
