Emergency crews respond to crashes at Alligator Ck, Cluden, and Mundingburra attack

Townsville’s emergency crews have responded to multiple incidents including another Bruce Highway crash and a hammer thrown through a vehicle’s window. Get the latest.

Townsville’s emergency crews have been kept busy overnight, responding to multiple crashes, including one on the Bruce Highway and a shocking incident where a hammer was thrown through a vehicle’s window.

Photos were shared to social media of multiple emergency vehicles responding to a crash on the Bruce Highway at Alligator Creek on Tuesday at about 9.55pm.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said they responded to a head-on two vehicle crash where it appeared that a vehicle had been driven in the wrong direction down the Bruce Highway exit to the Ampol Foodary Alligator Creek.

Blocking one lane of the highway, the crash involved a 48-year-old man driving a Nissan Pulsar and a Kia Optima carrying a 30-year-old Cranbrook woman and 19-year-old Alligator Creek man.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said one of the men sustained neck and chest injuries, with all three motorists transported by paramedics to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.

The highway was cleared around 2am and police investigations are ongoing.

Wilful damage incident in Mundingburra

A frightening wilful damage incident played out in Mundingburra during the early hours of Wednesday.

Police said a male threw an unknown object through the window of a vehicle near the intersection of Burt St and Oreilly St at 2.20am.

She said an 18-year-old female driver suffered scratches and cuts after being showered with glass and was treated at the scene by paramedic.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the victim suffered an eye injury but was not transported to hospital.

In an anonymous post to social media, the victim recounted details of the harrowing incident involving an allegedly stolen graphite coloured Camry Altise.

“This car attacked my friend and I, drove us into a dead end, blocking the exit. Threw hammer at our car smashing our windows. Ski masks were worn. About three or four people in the car had weapons,” the post read.

“They are crazy, they don’t stop, they aren’t scared of anything. This happened at approximately 2.15am this morning.”

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward and to share any dashcam footage.

Cluden motorcycle crash

Queensland Ambulance crews also responded to a single vehicle motorcycle crash on Jurekey Street, Cluden at 6.22am on Wednesday.

Police said the motorcycle appeared to have lost control and gone down an embankment.

A 35-year-old male was transported to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.
