Dr Michael Clements says Clive Palmer’s Covid-19 vaccination leaflet is dangerous

A Townsville doctor has warned the community to ignore a leaflet Clive Palmer has distributed saying he and the community should listen to scientists.

Australia's vaccine rollout a 'great failure' as Americans travel to Europe

A TOWNSVILLE doctor has urged the community to ignore a Clive Palmer leaflet distributed around the region that contained controversial claims about the coronavirus pandemic.

Among the claims were that there had been 210 vaccine-related deaths and 24,000 adverse reactions to vaccines, with the leaflet urging the men and women of Australia not to take risks with their lives.

“While I support vaccines that have approval for general use, I am very concerned by the use of this vaccine on the general population,” Mr Palmer said.

“My understanding is that emergency use of medicine is only authorised in the US if the person receiving the treatment is in immediate danger of dying. This is not the case with millions of Australians who are not ill.

“The simple fact is that we don’t have one-year safety data, three-year safety data or five-year safety data for the use of the Covid-19 vaccine on humans or animals. Over 50 per cent of animals in the animal trials have died.”

However, data provided by the Therapeutic Goods Association shows there has been 318 deaths that have occurred after the vaccine was administered, but the deaths have not been linked to the vaccine. In Australia two people have died from blood clots believed to be caused by the AstraZeneca vaccine. There have been 31,361 adverse events reported out of more than 6.5 million doses administered, with adverse events ranging from a sore arm to a more serious reaction. Mr Palmer went on to claim that there was no pandemic in Australia, with only one person dying of Covid-19 in 2021.

This is not the first time Mr Palmer has spread information about the pandemic, having bought significant quantities of hydroxychloroquine when there was a suggestion it could be used to treat Covid-19.

Dr Michael Clements said this was a time where people, including Mr Palmer, needed to listen to scientists.

“If he was interested in the welfare of the Australian community he would be working with scientists and listening to them,” Dr Clements said.

Dr Clement was interested to know where all the hydroxychloroquine had gone, because he had patients who needed it.

“It would be interesting hearing from his team what they’ve done with these medications,” he said.

Dr Clements said the federal government should be taking a stronger stance with advertising.

Mr Palmer and the federal government were contacted for comment.
