It was a case of deja vu for the Hanran family as they were preparing their youngest daughter for her first day of school.

Almost 12 months to the day, Lindle Hanran’s family home at Deeragun was inundated with water from the catastrophic monsoon that hit Townsville.

The mother of two said Monday night’s drenching brought back memories of Bailee’s first day at kindy last year.

Ms Hanran’s youngest daughter Bailee started Prep yesterday at Townsville Central State School.

“There were little bits there where we had a joke reminiscing about how we had some trouble getting Bailey to kindergarten last year,” she said.

“We thought, we may not get to their first day if this keeps up but we knew there was definitely not enough rain to cause any grief.”

Ms Hanran said Bailee and her older sister Zara were still on edge from the February floods.

“Bailee doesn’t like the word storm and they both get a little bit frightened saying that there is rain on the way,” she said.
