Human remains found inside the Crocodile that was euthanised at Hinchinbrook Island after Andrew Heard’s disappearance

Human remains have been found inside a crocodile shot after a man disappeared while fishing off Hinchinbrook Island.

UPDATE:

Police have confirmed human remains were found inside a crocodile which was removed by officers from the Department of Environment and Science yesterday near Hinchinbrook Island.

The 4.2-metre crocodile, which is believed to be the one involved in the death of 69-year-old Andy Heard, was examined by a specialist in Cairns overnight with human remains being located inside.

Police investigations continue with officers preparing a report for the Coroner

EARLIER

Wildlife officers have located a crocodile that may have been involved in the disappearance of Andrew Heard.

A 4m crocodile was located this afternoon near where the Mr Heard’s boat was found in the Hinchinbrook Island area.

Officers humanely euthanised the animal and it has been transported back to the mainland.

A necropsy will be conducted in the near future.

Remains believed to be that of Andrew Heard were discovered overnight.

Wildlife officers are continuing to assist the Queensland Police Service with its investigation.

The Department of Environment and Science has deployed a number of resources including four vessels, 15 officers, drones, traps and other equipment used to capture a crocodile in the Hinchinbrook Island region.
