Cowboys spread Christmas cheer with donations to charities
North Queensland Cowboys have donated $50,000 worth of merchandise to three charities helping families struggling this Christmas.
The North Queensland Cowboys and the Cowboys Leagues Club are giving back to those doing it tough this Christmas, uniting with charities to deliver festive cheer.
Fuel for Schools, Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia and Hope in a Suitcase received $50,000 worth of merchandise, with Cowboys fullback Scott Drinkwater officially giving the three charities the much needed items.
Scott Drinkwater said he was happy to be able to hand the presents over to the charities in person.
“Credit to the Cowboys Leagues for donating what they have to a few charities that they will hand out to a few families doing it tough,” Drinkwater said.
“Kids who don’t get their presents under the tree and are doing it a bit tough, this will put a smile on their faces.”
Operations Manager for Fuel for Schools Paddy Pool said both the Cowboys Leagues Club have been very supportive of the charity for a long time with monetary donations and allowing the not for profit to run charity raffles.
“The donations they’ve given us today will go towards giving kids backpacks,” Mr Pool said.
“We’ll load as much of the stuff into the school backpacks, there’s some kids that are going to get some nice surprises when they open their backpack, and some stuff we’ll also use for fundraising purposes.”
