Police have confirmed that a Hinchinbrook man has died after a cane haul-out vehicle rolled at Helens Hill on Tuesday.

“Initial information indicates at around 7am a tractor was travelling on Larkins Road when it rolled,” Queensland Police Service said in a statement on Tuesday afternoon.

“The driver, a 61-year-old Halifax man, sustained serious injuries and was declared deceased at Ingham Hospital.”

A QPS spokesman said the Forensic Crash Unit was investigating.

“Anyone with information or relevant vision is urged to come forward.”

Queensland Ambulance Service said earlier that the man had suffered head and shoulder injuries after he became entrapped after his haul-out vehicle rolled.

The road is about 18 kilometres south of Ingham.

A QAS spokeswoman said the man was transported to Ingham Hospital in a “life-threatening condition”.

It is understood the incident involved a haul-out vehicle that rolled onto a headland in a cane-field.

It is believe that the middle-aged victim was trapped under the machine for a period of time before he was freed in a critical condition by Queensland Fire Department.

Haul-out vehicles transport freshly cut cane to waiting bins for transport to sugar mills by cane trains.

The QGAir Rescue Helicopter has arrived at Ingham Hospital but its services were not required.
