For those wanting to get in touch with their country roots or just looking for a ‘splendiferous real rip-roarin’ time’ then head to Cluden this Saturday for the Boots n Beats country music race day.
Cluden Park major event manager Regan Anderson said it was the first time they had added country music to a race day and it was now part of the Cluden Winter Racing Carnival.
“We’ve incorporated in this year, so there was four events; the 2YO Classic in June, then the upcoming Ladies Day and Townsville Cup in August,” he said.
“So it’s hopefully Boots N Beats is going to be here to stay for a while, and make the winter racing carnival just a bit bigger and expanded.”
He said there would be country performances all day including Tropical Boots Line Dancing, Luke Geiger, Shaun Diver, Josie and Cam Cusack and family friendly fun with farm animals, rides and a mechanical bull.
He was hoping the people would ‘frock-up’ in their best country attire for the inaugural event.
“It’s a bit different for a race where, so instead of your formal, general race, where we’re expecting to see people in their flash country kit which is very popular these days.”
The family-orientated event starts at 11am this Saturday and has free entry for children under 12 with tickets available at the gate or online on the Cluden Park website.
