RUGBY league star Valentine Holmes tied the knot with his high school sweetheart Natalia O’Toole in an intimate ceremony on Easter Sunday in Townsville.
The pair were married in their home city at the Dalgety Apartments penthouse owned by the bride’s father, a local lawyer.
Natalia’s brother-in-law North Queensland Cowboys captain Michael Morgan, flew back from Auckland arriving a few hours before the wedding, after their victory over the New Zealand Warriors.
Large groups of guests, among them retired Cowboys great Johnathan Thurston, began making their way into the lobby, where they embraced the family of the bride and groom.
Thurston was accompanied with his wife Samantha Lynch, who wore a long floral dress.
Cade Maloney and Paul Byrnes, who went to Ignatius Park College, with the budding NFL star, were also invited to the swanky penthouse apartment for the wedding.
Other people within the apartment complex were spotted taking snaps from their own homes.
Holmes and his wife exchanged nuptials as the sun set with Castle Hill in the background.
It’s the second big wedding in about six months, with Morgan marrying Brianna O’Toole on Magnetic Island.
The Cronulla Sharks winning premiership player and Kangaroos representative grew up in Townsville.
This month Holmes clinched a practice-squad berth with the New York Jets, scuppering any chance the North Queensland Cowboys had of signing the gun winger and full back.
The former Queensland Origin star will begin training with the Jets’ practice squad this week.
