THE two people allegedly involved in the death of Kayla Golding are expected to have a long wait until their trial while police compile a brief of evidence.
Chante Lee White, 29, who was charged with the murder of Ms Golding and Jamie Alan Mcauliffe, 39, who was charged with one count of accessory after the fact to murder, didn’t appear in Townsville Magistrates Court when their case mentioned on Wednesday morning.
Both are on remand in custody.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Peter Obermeyer asked Magistrate Ross Mack for an adjournment until March for investigators to compile a brief of evidence.
The magistrate was incredulous, describing the request as “tommyrot”, saying he was reluctant to grant such a long adjournment without a reason.
Mr Obermeyer said they were waiting on witness, officer, scientific, forensic and pathology statements.
He said DNA needed to be tested and evidence still needed to be sent to Brisbane for analysis.
No applications were made for bail.
The case was adjourned until October 18 for mention.
