One Townsville real estate market ended on a high last year with buyers snapping up high-end properties throughout the beachfront suburb.
Remax Bushland Beach real estate agent Cameron Cole specialises in the Northern Beaches suburb with 50 per cent of his business made up from the postcode.
Mr Cole said the Bushland Beach market had seen an amazing rebound last year.
“In September and October, there were homes sold for $1.1 million, $1 million, $935,000 and $865,000 and they were the highest prices in Bushland Beach for the past three years,” he said.
“Of those four outstanding prices, two were absolute beachfront properties and the other two came with fantastic ocean views.”
Harcourts Kingsberry Townsville sales consultant Jenny Bishop has sold numerous properties at Bushland Beach over the past 12 years.
She said the suburb catered to a diverse community.
“Kids can live an outdoor lifestyle. They don’t have to live inside, they can go for walks along the beach and they can fish out their back door,” she said.
“The two beachfront properties I sold there recently were to retirees and they can have their families there and they can all just wander to the beach.”
Bushland Beach is located only a 25-minute drive from the CBD and is Townsville’s only master planned beachside community, developed by the Sunland Group.
Ms Bishop said that “there were 90 beachfront homes in Bushland Beach that I counted on a map”.
“It is the only actual absolute beachfront suburb in town and beachfront properties are always a premium property,” she said.
With the current Australian lockdown measures in place, only time will tell how the restrictions will impact the local property market.
Mr Cole said he was hopeful buyers would sustain the market during the Australian quarantine measures.
“Today, I took offers on two properties and one of those was in Bushland Beach so that shows there are buyers still out there prepared to buy.”
