A business whiz with an unlikely background is opening a second Bridgestone service centre in Townsville.

Bridgestone Select Deeragun franchisee Brynn Greenhill revealed on Tuesday that he was opening a new tyre and auto repair services business on North Vickers Road in Condon on Monday.

Mr Greenhill, 41, has an interesting backstory, having been born and raised in Mackay before moving to Townsville to complete a Bachelor’s Degree In Biomedical Science at James Cook University.

He said after a stint in the mines earning his stripes, he helped establish a laboratory for TML Pathology in Hobart before moving into business development, including a return to JCU to help work on plans to commercialise its veterinary lab.

He then decided to go into business for himself.

“Tyres are something that everybody needs, even if we are looking at electric vehicles in the future, they are still going to need tyres … it’s a market that has a need pretty much everywhere.”

The father of three said he purchased Bridgestone Select Deeragun two years ago and had grown the business that currently employed six people.

In addition to increasing revenue, the business had enlarged the services it provided, including roadworthies and airconditioning re-gassing.

Mr Greenhill said the new services were in addition to the Bridgestone franchise’s high-quality bread-and-butter tyre and auto repair services.

He said it was exciting expanding into the spacious new premises in Condon, thanks to commercial real-estate agents Burgess Rawson.

“It’s a nice, big shop for us with a showroom that’s set out quite comfortably for the customers there as well.”

Mr Greenhill said the new franchise was starting off with four employees with plans to eventually employ nine, including three mechanics and two tyre fitters.

“We’ve got space to grow and the area is developing as well … servicing everyone from Kelso from Condon and hopefully get a few (customers) from Kirwan as well as the Thuringowa area as well.”

He said the new business would be offering specials from Monday.
