An Ayr man has appeared in court following a domestic violence incident in Brandon

Police have arrested a man in Ayr following an alleged domestic violence incident that involved a firearm.

A man was arrested in Ayr on Thursday following an alleged domestic violence incident.

Police allege the 35-year-old threatened a woman with a firearm on May 16 in Brandon, no one was injured and a gel blaster was seized during the arrest.

He was charged with contravention of a domestic violence order, breach of bail condition, possessing utensils or pipes and threatening violence - discharge firearms.

He appeared in Townsville Magistrates Court on Friday where he was refused bail.

Detective Inspector Damien Smith said police take a “zero-tolerance” approach to domestic and family violence.

“It’s important that while we hold perpetrators accountable, we also support victim-survivors and protect them from further harm,” he said.
